In-play Concerns are Being Addressed by the UK Gambling Commission
The UK Gambling Commission has made its position known for in-play betting options. The UKGC said that this form of gambling doesn’t represent a “significant risk” more than other wagering activities do. The gambling regulatory also said that as it is with other forms of in-play activities and betting issues can rise that could end up compacting objectives mainly the transparency of betting, fairness, he integrity and the risk of harm.
The UKGC released a statement regarding the openness and fairness of in-play betting it, “does not appear to generate specific risks to the licensing objectives as long as bettors are sufficiently aware of their position and the respective positions of other bettors and the betting operators”.
They added that, “We do not consider it necessary to intervene to prevent some players using technology advantages, such as faster connectivity speeds, to gain a competitive edge provided it is clear to all players that this can be done.”
The UKGC did however admit that there is somewhat potentials for exploitation for in-play when dealing with “for criminal or otherwise inappropriate gain”, therefore it raises the integrity issues at hand even though the gambling body added other forms of similar potentials.
